Stick to the Schedule

Immunization schedules work with the immune system to protect children when they are most vulnerable.

Protection from Day One

Children are born without the ability to fully protect themselves against the thousands of germs they are exposed to. They are also often at the highest risk for complications from diseases.

Vaccines stimulate the body’s immune system (the body's ability to fight germs and sickness) to provide natural protection against preventable diseases, making infants and children stronger from within.

Childhood Vaccines

Influenza (Flu)

Young children are most at-risk for complications from the flu. Yearly flu vaccines are recommended for everyone over 6 months old. Learn more about influenza.

Hepatitis A (Hep A)

Hepatitis A outbreaks are on the rise in Florida. Children can receive the hep A vaccine starting at age 1 for lifelong protection against the disease. Learn more about hepatitis A.

Hepatitis B

Infants exposed to the hepatitis B virus have a 90% chance of developing a lifelong infection. All babies should receive the vaccine within 24 hours of birth. Learn more about hepatitis B.

Measles

Measles is highly contagious, but vaccines protect children against the disease starting at 12-15 months and keep the community safe by preventing outbreaks. Learn more about measles.

Pertussis

Also known as whooping cough, this preventable disease can be deadly for babies who can become unknowingly infected by family members and caretakers. Learn more about pertussis.

Pneumococcal

Anyone can become infected by this respiratory disease, but young children are at the highest risk of serious complications. All babies and children under 2 should be vaccinated. Learn more about pneumococcal.

There are additional vaccines that protect against other preventable diseases. Learn more about Immunization Requirements.
